Meanwhile, Almanzo and Laura take in their niece, Jenny Wilder (played by Shannen Doherty), when Almanzo's brother dies and raise her alongside their daughter, Rose. The Wilders appear prominently in some episodes, while in others they appear only in early scenes used to introduce the story or its characters. The explanation given for the original characters' absence was that they moved to Burr Oak, Iowa, to pursue a promising life.

Pete grudgingly resigns to making football practice less severe, after nearly destroying his marriage and family life. Laura and Albert work hard to harvest honey from a beehive after making a deal with Mr. Oleson, who said he would buy it at 30 cents a pound. Meanwhile, Adam wins a teaching award and must travel to Minneapolis to receive it, but they do not have enough money for the trip.
The Carters buy the Ingalls' farm; Laura welcomes teacher Etta Plum and Almanzo's relatives. An elderly farmer (Lew Ayres) urges Almanzo to run for mayor to oppose Mrs. Oleson. A black boy (Todd Bridges) offers to be the Ingalls' slave in exchange for attending school. Caroline and Dr. Baker go to an unhealthy mining camp to care for her ailing, pregnant friend. Charles' father stays with the Ingalls, but an incident with Laura deepens his depression. Laura thinks she saw Mr. Oleson kill his wife, but no one believes her.
They do not include the special features present on the earlier non-remastered releases, but rather seasons 1 through 6 each contain a roughly 15 minute segment of a special called "The Little House Phenomenon". Seasons 8 & 9 contain the three post-series movie specials as extras, with "Look Back to Yesterday" and "The Last Farewell" appearing on Season 8, and "Bless All The Dear Children" appearing on Season 9. Charles’ character goes down a road that we have not seen in previous episodes, at least not in this way. Though devout, Charles also knows when to accept reality and understand that not everything can be made better simply through prayer. In this episode, however, Charles detaches himself from all reality and clings solely to his faith, depending wholly and completely on a miracle to save his son. When Charles is recruiting people in Sleepy Eye to help him hunt down the criminals, why doesn’t he seek out Jonathan Garvey? It’s possible that Jonathan has left Sleepy Eye between his last appearance and this episode, but nothing about it is ever mentioned. In this episode, Cassandra (Melissa Francis) becomes the only Ingalls child (other than Mary) to win a prestigious award at school in Walnut Grove.

Trying to start a new life after Alice's death, Jonathan moves to Sleepy Eye and buys a freight business. Jonathan helps Andy resolve his feeling that Mary and Adam are to blame for his mother's death. The fledgling business quickly becomes the target of robbers, and Jonathan becomes a deputy to support the sheriff in dealing with the villains. With help from Charles, Jonathan catches the ringleaders, but then Andy is beaten up by the gang, and the repercussions lead to a violent and tragic outcome. In this three-hour special, the Ingalls family spends Thanksgiving reminiscing their past years in Walnut Grove (via clips from previous episodes). With Jonathan as coach, Albert and the livery school's football team challenge the private academy's undefeated football team.

Mr. Edwards' adopted son, John, refuses a college scholarship when Mary agrees to be his wife. At Almanzo's urging, Laura enters a writing contest and produces a novel about the Ingalls family, which Almanzo and Jenny love. After travelling with Jenny to Minneapolis, Laura learns that she has won the contest and she is offered the opportunity to have her novel published. She reluctantly agrees to changes which the publishers want to make, but Jenny convinces Laura that the new version is not as good as her original and should not be published. Charles, Albert, James and Mr. Edwards travel to Sleepy Eye on business. James, wanting to open a savings account with his birthday check from Uncle Jed, walks into the bank as it is being robbed.
Based on her history of stinginess and racist behavior, she seems out of character in this episode. When Willie approaches Laura’s desk to speak with her about history (after the other children have left the classroom), he appears to be dripping with sweat. The camera cuts to Laura for a moment, then switches back to Willie, whose skin is suddenly completely dry. Gideon has been missing for days, yet when Caroline finds him, his clothes are spotless and his hair is neatly combed.

Charles calls her “darling” when she is fearful about her parents’ lives. You will notice that Nancy is arguably more scared and empathetic than she’s ever been in the series. This attitude is revealed here for the first time (remember that Eliza Jane is quiet and self-sacrificing in Season 7’s “Laura Ingalls Wilder”), and she only gets worse in Season 8’s “Days of Sunshine, Days of Shadow“.

When her grandmother begs Charles for help, he has an idea for a way to help Olga, despite her embittered father Jon's (Jan Merlin) lack of support. Jon happens to be overly protective of his child's safety and doesn't want his daughter to go anywhere in her condition, even to a point of wanting to keep her isolated, much to his mother's (Olga's grandmother) dismay. Then, when the Ingalls girls have their own party with their friends from school, Laura exacts her revenge on Nellie. There are multiple DVD sets which are noticeably different from one another. The original DVD sets sold in the U.S. and Canada were released in conjunction with NBC Enterprises (later NBC Universal in 2004) by Imavision Distribution, a company based in Quebec. A majority of the episodes in the original North American DVD versions had scenes cut from the episodes—these were derived from the syndicated television versions by Worldvision Enterprises, the series' former distributor.
Other episodes (especially in Season Eight) were time compressed and are NTSC-converted video prints from UK PAL masters, while others were derived from 16MM syndication prints, also from Worldvision. Only a handful of episodes in the original sets were in their original uncut versions. The first three seasons of the old sets notably are also missing closed captioning. In contrast, Laura does not truly come to grips with Albert's possible imminent death until late in the story, and wishes that he rest in bed rather than exhaust himself. Albert soon falls in love with a long-time friend called Michele Pierson, and Charles starts a cooperative with the local farmers in order to compete with the large farms. Finally, Albert, Laura, Michele, Miss Plum and the local school children make their annual climb to 'the keepsake tree' at the top of Harper's Bluff, where Laura and Albert place their own keepsake in the box hidden there. The movie ends with Miss Plum and the children joining hands in a circle around Laura and Albert, who join their own hands and raise them high, both in celebration and as a symbol of their bond.
Laura gives birth in this episode after announcing her pregnancy in the previous season. She is the only character on the show who ever has a baby and goes through the actual nine-month pregnancy on the show. With Charles Jr. and Grace Ingalls, and Laura’s second child Baby Wilder, they were all born in one episode, and Mary’s two pregnancies took their full course within just a few episodes. The Carters, including their sons Jeb and Jason, adjust to life in Walnut Grove, but Jenny has a hard time doing so after her father dies. She blames herself and Laura for her father's death, saying that she should have been told that he was ill. After Reverend Alden assures her that she will see her parents again in heaven, Jenny tries to drown herself to join them, but Jeb conquers his fear of water and dives in and saves her.

When Percival's parents visit Walnut Grove for the birth of Nellie's baby, Percival reveals that his real name is Isaac Cohen, much to Harriet's consternation. Percival's father, Benjamin, is passionately and devoutly Jewish, which brings him into conflict with Harriet and her Christian beliefs, especially over the question of which religion the new baby will be raised in. Nels brokers a truce between Benjamin and Harriet with the suggestion that a boy should be raised in the Jewish faith and a girl should be raised as a Christian. When Nellie gives birth, she unexpectedly has twins, a girl and a boy, so Nellie and Percival agree to raise their son Benjamin as Jewish and their daughter Jennifer as a Christian.
Then Adam and Mary also move there when Adam takes a position at his late father's law firm. The blind school in Sleepy Eye has been taken under the control of the state, so Hester-Sue moves to Walnut Grove to help Caroline run the restaurant and hotel. Harriet becomes very depressed, and Doc Baker suggests she and Nels adopt, but it takes a visit from Cassandra to revive Harriet's spirits. At the orphanage in Sleepy Eye, Harriet's wish is realized when she finds a young girl named Nancy who reminds her of Nellie and of Harriet herself as a child. Nancy quickly causes trouble at the school in Walnut Grove, but Laura has already worked out that Nancy is another Nellie. Just as Mary falls in love with newcomer Seth Barton (Robert Kenneally), her nearsightedness begins to worsen.

The brother-sister duo of Bill and Annette Shepherd seek to influence Claire. The Shepherds are connected with Mark Usher, whom Claire has made Vice President, and who is having an affair with Annette. Annette's son Duncan puts pressure on Claire through his media company, Gardner Analytics.
On December 24, 2020, Spacey posted a third Christmas Eve video, titled "1-800 XMAS", in which he spoke in Underwood's accent before breaking character and speaking in his natural voice. Casually mentioned to Claire, just last season, that she could kill Frank and make it look like an accident. Full SPOILERS follow for the Season 6 finale of Netflix's House of Cards. With Frank out of the picture, Claire Underwood steps fully into her own as the first woman president, but faces formidable threats to her legacy. Aide is a generous term; I was either an intern or a lowly advance man. I was not weighing in on policy or big decisions — I was more logistical in my duties.
In the fifth season, Claire also addresses the camera directly, on one occasion explaining that she had always known the viewer was there, but didn't know if she could trust them. At the end, after usurping the Presidency from Underwood and deciding not to grant him a pardon, she looks into the camera again and states "My turn." Underwood and Claire engage in a threesome with their Secret Service bodyguard Edward Meechum at one point in season 2, but have otherwise largely given up intramarital and extramarital sex in favor of their pursuit of power. Underwood's sexuality is ambiguous throughout much of the first two seasons; he has sexual liaisons with both men and women, but he is never explicitly identified by any sexual label. It is revealed in "Chapter 8" he had an experience with homosexuality in college. The same season, however, also features the only scene in the series in which Underwood and Claire have sex exclusively with each other.
Claire poisons Yates with an overdose of Gelsemium provided to her by Jane, concerned that he knows too much. Finally, contractors working for the Underwoods eliminate LeAnn by ramming her car off the road into a guard rail. Frank resigns as president, leaving Claire as the 47th president of the United States. This comes in the form of a military special operations unit finding and taking out the leader of ICO, which moves media focus away from Frank. Standing in the Oval Office, Claire appears to reconsider pardoning Frank, and ignores multiple concerned calls from him regarding the matter. Ambassador to the United Nations and faces a crisis in the Jordan Valley, which pits Frank against Russian President Viktor Petrov. When Petrov has an American gay rights activist arrested in Russia, the Underwoods persuade him to secure a release. However, Petrov demands that the activist apologize on Russian television, leading the activist to kill himself while being visited by Claire. Later, after Russian troops are killed in the Jordan Valley, Petrov convinces Frank to remove Claire as Ambassador in exchange for a peaceful resolution. Claire resigns, giving the reason that she wants to be more active in Frank's campaign. The Justice Department investigates the White House's ties to Feng and Tusk.
Following Durant's fake death, Claire and President Petrov forge a deal on Syria. Claire then discovers that Durant is alive and living in France with Petrov's help. Following this, Claire disappears for three weeks, prompting questions of her ability to lead, and leading Usher to plan to use the 25th Amendment to remove her from office. Claire foils Usher's plan and fires her Cabinet, replacing it with an all-female Cabinet, much to Annette's surprise. Annette plans to use Claire's prior abortions against her, but Claire retaliates by revealing to Duncan he is not Annette's biological son.
Zoe's death compels Janine to abandon the investigation, but Lucas continues the search alone. However, the hacker, Gavin Orsay, actually works for Doug and frames Lucas for cyberterrorism. Rachel, fearing potential harm and Doug's growing obsession with her, ambushes Doug and leaves him for dead, fleeing into hiding. The sixth and final season of “House of Cards” is now available on Netflix. “House of Cards’” final season is here and now we know how the show wrote out Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood. Frank was murdered, albeit pretty peacefully, by his most loyal henchman.

Wishing to avoid public disclosure of his personal issues, Walker has the White House Counsel coach the counselor, which the special prosecutor interprets as witness tampering. As the House Judiciary Committee begins drafting articles of impeachment, both Walker and Frank offer Tusk a presidential pardon in exchange for implicating the other. Tusk sides with Walker at first, leaving Frank no other option than to regain the president's trust as a friend. With Walker forced to resign, Frank is sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. For the first four seasons, Underwood was the only character to break the fourth wall until the very end of the fourth season, during which Claire—though silent—addresses the camera directly with him.

He is depicted as a ruthless politician who rises from United States House of Representatives majority whip to president of the United States through treachery, deception and murder. He is based on Francis Urquhart, the protagonist of the British novel and television series House of Cards, from which the American Netflix series is drawn. He is married to Claire Underwood (Robin Wright), and also had a sexual relationship with Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) in season 1.
Throughout the season, a writer named Thomas Yates is hired by Frank to write a biography for the purpose of promoting America Works. Yates, a fiction writer with a dark past of his own, decides to put a different spin on the book and writes less about Frank and more about his marriage with Claire. Yates reads Frank a prologue that he does not understand at first, but agrees is a decent beginning. By the end of the season, Yates has the first chapter written and Frank, not liking the direction the book is taking, fires Yates.
Attempted assassination of Frank Underwood
Underwood is fond of the head of his Secret Service detail, Edward Meechum, and it is hinted several times that they harbor unacknowledged sexual feelings for each other. When Meechum stumbles upon Underwood watching pornography, Underwood and Claire joke about there being sexual chemistry between the two men. Shortly after Underwood becomes vice president, he, Claire and Meechum have a threesome. On December 24, 2018, the same day that Spacey was charged with indecent assault and battery, he posted an unofficial short film continuation of House of Cards titled Let Me Be Frank to his YouTube channel.
Meechum remains Underwood's bodyguard once he becomes the president, and there does not appear to be any continuing sexual relationship. Meechum remains fiercely loyal, however; he warns Underwood's biographer Tom Yates (Paul Sparks) not to write anything that would damage Underwood's reputation. In season 4, Underwood traces Meechum's hand with a marker on one of the walls of the White House when he wants to replace a Confederate painting; Meechum suggests he put up something he likes instead. He and his administration was investigated by the Declaration of War committee, which led to his resignation from the presidency on March 15, 2017, and was succeeded by his wife and Vice President, Claire Hale Underwood. After speaking to the crowd inside, Underwood went out to greet the protestors.
Underwood says that Claire will have to pardon him and Doug, however. However, neither Underwood nor Conway receive a majority of votes there, so the Senate chooses the Vice President, who will automatically assume to the Presidency until Congress votes again. In the Senate, Claire is chosen, and is sworn in as Acting President on January 20, 2017.
On November 3, 2017, following sexual assault claims made against Spacey, Netflix cut ties with the actor, putting the character's fate in question. In a teaser trailer for the sixth season of House of Cards, it is shown that Underwood died in 2017 and is now buried next to his father in South Carolina. The series finale reveals that Underwood had planned to kill Claire as revenge for abandoning him, and that Stamper poisoned him to stop him from being publicly exposed as a murderer, to "protect the legacy from the man".
Seeing that his candidate is losing, Conway's campaign manager, Mark Usher, switches sides to the Underwoods. The Underwood ticket wins both Ohio and Tennessee, and Frank is sworn in as president and Claire as vice president. The ultimate aim of the legislation is to create full employment across the United States, with Underwood desiring its scope to be as wide as that of the New Deal. It plans on reducing entitlements from both Social Security and welfare, instead focusing on putting Americans into full-time work. During the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Underwood publicly endorsed Catherine Durant for the position of running mate, but was secretly supporting Claire.
In Congress, he was known for supporting states’ rights, and the League of Nations, but he turned down the opportunity to run to be Woodrow Wilson’s vice president in 1912 (an office he probably would have won, TIME suggested in 1925). House of Cards is an American political thriller television series created by Beau Willimon. It is based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Michael Dobbs and an adaptation of the 1990 British series of the same name by Andrew Davies, also from the novel. Underwood also reveals that he was the leak, and has been working with Doug to feed Hammerschmidt information.
